Does anyone (excluding my cousin Mike who remembers everything in vivid detail and also still has the first dollar he ever made in his life) remember the year and model of the CHASE car in "Bullit"? Did I spell Bullit right Mike? If you have to rent the movie, or pull it from the dusty archives of your old VHS collection, to get the answer it doesn't count. The winner will receive.....hmm....absolutely nothing...other than bragging rights...if you can find anyone who cares...
I have no idea why this is bothering me. I should worry about the economy, the war, the degradation of our government and country as a whole. I can't do a thing in the world about these problems so I choose not to worry...just pray A LOT....and that is the last political, spiritual, or serious writing you will ever see on this blog.
Have a good day!!

ReplyDeletei'm pretty sure you were watching the monty python version...
ReplyDeleteJames Price had come back from the Naval Air Reserve. It was the summer of 1968. We went on a double date to see Bullitt at the Worth Theater down town. I went with a girl named Jean and James went with a girl named Carla. The line to get into the theater went around the block. We got some of the last tickets and sat in the very top of the balcony. It was great! The chase scene was great! After that, I would watch the movie listing and see when it was showing at drive ins. I would drive around where I could see the screen and time when the chase scene would happen so I could park somewhere and watch it even though there wouldn't be any sound. I did this at least once when I was dating Nancy. I kept driving around on the hill overlooking the Corral theater in Lake Worth until the chase scene was about to start. I parked on top of the hill and watched the chase scene and I think Nancy thought this was a little odd. Lt. Frank Bullitt's car was a 1968 Green Mustang Fastback 390GT with a four speed, no posi-traction. I have the movie on VHS and DVD. I have the Bullit soundtrack (music by Lalo Schrifin) on CD. Rowdy gave me the book, McQueen's Machines one Christmas which has a chapter on the car.
ReplyDeletethat was a great story....but you still didn't tell me about the chase car. I'm going to guess dodge charger....am i right?
